    Default Century Link in Idaho

I ran into another locator today who works for ELM. They have the Qwest contract here in Idaho. The locator told me that Century Link is now taking over. I admit I was completely oblivious to this fact. After that I started noticing the Century Link trucks all over the place. ANYWAY... back on topic, the locator then expressed concern that they (ELM) might lose the phone contract now that Century Link has taken over.

The question: Does Century Link have a preferred locate company?

    Just curious.

I know they have a contract with Stake Center in Oregon and Washington. A long one. Not sure if that will expand to cover areas where SC didn't have the Qwest contract before the change over though.

Hey Steve - This what I've been told - Century Link, formerly Embarq which was formerly Sprint, had a contract renewal with Consolidated Utility Service (along with other locating companies) a couple of years ago. Century Link was wanting a sole service provider for locating their infrastructure. At the time, no single locating company had the coverage for the entire Century Link base. USIC answered the challenge by acquiring/merging with CLS to get the 100% Century Link coverage. Today, USIC has the Century Link contract. Using this logic, I believe the answer for your question is USIC.
