Cell phones

It sure is amazing how every contractor seems to get our cell numbers. I swear if I do one meet or give my number to one contractor they just spread it around like it's a number on a bathroom wall. It's almost hard to get anything done sometimes with the phone ringing all the time.

Don't get me wrong I don't know how I'd get by without it but sometimes it's sure a pain in the a$$.

Yes,Golden, call display is a bitch. Nothing is secret anymore!

Here, I can press " *67 " before I dial a number and my phone number will NOT be displayed on the other end. Don't know if it will work in your area but give it a try, or phone your cell provider and ask what the equivelant code would be.

Like you, however, every contractor and his dog has my number and some phone me for the darndest things.

what's great is that contr. that likes to go to work every morning at 6 am.....the one day you decide you want to sleep in till 7 am he calls you to let you know that he's digging at that site you marked last week that is a high profile area.....

What's worse is when a contractor calls you, and they're working in an area that isn't even yours! But they have your number just because they did work in your area at one time...

What's worse though is when a contractor doing work in the neighborhood sees your truck sitting in your driveway on a saturday and knocks on the door and asks you for a few marks...going on about how YOU didn't finish marking far enough for him on friday. After about 5 minutes of him rambling on and on and calling me every name in the book I politely told him just because I live here doesn't mean that I do the locating in the area...... I went and gave him some marks and to this day he is one of the best contractors to work with....

i say when you get a contractor ....really on your side ...it is on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it makes this job so easy and relaxed....cell phone rings..................yes you need a few more marks on that 10 mile locate maybe 300 ft for the rest of the week....sure be right over.....

That's what I say... You scratch my back, I'll scratch your's... ya know! I have a few of them wrapped around my finger!

But you do get those few that call you and want you to locate something out of your area... because the other locator didn't locate it correctly, and you have a good reputation... it does become bothersome!

it is a pain in the butt when the contractors call, but it's the ones that DON"T call that bother me. You give them your number, tell them to call if they need anything, and they dig anyway, and hit something. If they would have called, that damage could have been prevented.
