    Default Buried Utility Structures.

Today was just one of those days. I dug out three phone peds, one manhole, and two handholes. Sometimes I feel like a need a grunt to ride with me just to dig out all the structures that contractors and landscapers bury.

    Hey GB,

Can you remember to go back after they pave that? I would love to see if they bury those cans under asphalt!

Actually the job was for moving all the phone. They have to move 4 cad 16s one crossbox and a manhole. They are building a new Menards and all the phone is out of easement. It was a real pain in the back to do that locate. I just hate to know about the 3 900 pair cables running for 1800 feet just abandoned down there. I want all the copper.

I bet if you had let the contractors know that.. they would be calling in a locate just to dig that up for themselves... Heck it would almost be worth it!

If all the peds were'nt buried I could have just brought everything from the outends. But in this case all the peds and manholes were buried so I had to unbury most of them.

Another example of time wasted by locators - who can make production like this?

I still say utility owners should have the responsibility to provide locators with access in these cases.
