Default Blood Hound Locating company Indiapolis

Has anyone worked or is working for blood hound out of indy. Is it a good place to work? How much away time and travel is there I saw they were hiring in my area but its 2-3 hours from indy they said the training takes up to 3 mounths and they want me to stay in indy away from my wife and kids and only come home on the weekends for those 3 mounths. I would like to know if this company is worth my time away from wife and kids.

Well, that depends on what your wife and kids are like!

I have worked for them and I did not care for them. I was told when I hired in that I would start out making X amount of dollars and get a company truck within about 3 weeks. I was also told that the out of state work would be minimal, but would happen. I worked 30 days, and 16 out of the 30 I was out of state. 5 weeks after I hired in, I was told I wasn't getting a vehicle. I left the following week.

I do have a couple friend that do still work for them and they have no complaints.

Even if the company gives you a gas card the mileage and beating these work trucks take makes providing a truck yourself a losing proposition.
Plus when a company truck breaks down you are still on the clock.

If the truck you provide breaks down you go off the clock until it is repaired. So you have the repair bill, the tow fees and have lost several days of pay.

Consider also you have to get much more expensive commercial use insurance on the truck and may be required to get an extra policy to cover the liability of your employer.

Some years ago Utiliquest offered a program where the locator could provide the truck and get reimbursed. Some thought it was a good idea and even went out and bought a new truck just for that job. Then some competitor bidding on a job pointed out to the prospective client that Utiliquest was "unable" to provide trucks and was developing a fleet of mismatched, unprofessional looking vehicles. So they suddenly stopped the use your own vehicle program and those guys and gals that has purchased a truck were suddenly left holding payments on a vehicle they no longer needed. Most owed more than the trucks were now worth.
