Default Best locator for offloading data into a computer?

    Hey everybody,
Can anyone tell me if there are alternatives to the RD4000 or RD8000 when it comes to recording depth data alongside GPS coordinates to do 3D utility mapping? Also, if there is nothing else is the RD8000 worth dropping the extra $1000 bucks on? My guys in the field are used to using a Ditch Witch, but those don't have the capability...

    GWJ_CAS,
Thanks for the tip. The i5000 is pretty new, and I don't go shopping for locators very often. How much does one of these cost (with transmitter)? Also, does it have a range of compatible GPS units, or does it use the same Trimble Geo-series as the RD units?
    I appreciate your help!

Several GPS units are compatible including the i5000; Trimble GEO-Xx series, Thales (Magellen ProMark) and Leica GS20.

I will get you some pricing when I return from vacation on Monday. I will send it to you via PM.

Hey p-town, I got the I-5000 and I love it! It's worth the money, especially if you are a orange guy. I paid about $5,600 for mine with clamp, GPS and all, but I think it varies by area and demand.
I seek not to know the answers, but to understand the questions.
