Default Anyone Tried a Subsite 830R?

    Hi all,

I'm looking to replace some aging metrotech 810s and my sales guy says these run the same frequency with better performance.

Have any of you used or heard about these?

Don't trust the Sales guy. I've just recently tried one. They are trying to market this one to take the place of the 810, but the preformance just isn't there. The needle movement just wasn't fast enough. there was a slight lag in the response which slowed the locating down.

For example, when you past over the target line, it wouldn't center quick enough, so it would lead you past the target line. You had to slow way down in order to pin point the location.

On the 810, it has an analog needle, so that needle movement is instantaneous so you can walk quick and still be able to pinpoint the target.

I definatley suggest taking one out to the field and doing at least 100' of locate to see how it responds.
