To give the noobs all new everything means just using one set of paperwork to issue equipment,

There has to be a set of paperwork to get old equipment/vehicles , etc. from the vets. One set of paperwork to issue to the vets. One set of paperwork to issue to the noobs. Three sets of paperwork.

It is a matter of someone is lazy.

Don't get me wrong I really do love locating but man oh man I've been trying to get an 8000 for the last 6 months and its always well we don't have any in stock BLAH BLAH BLAH . And to see the noobs with this awesome equipment that they don't even know how to use yet just sucks . Plus they got not brand new but newer trucks than I have .

The other problem is that most of us experienced guys are going out at 3a m to do NRCG emergencies with shitty equipment while the noobie has the equipment we should have taking 45 minutes on a stump grinding.

I still have my first Metro Tech 810 I got 25 some years ago brand new. I don't carry it with me any more, but I will never give it up. Kind of like I would never give up my firearms.

Fine machine in the hands of an experienced locator. Had a supervisor who called it a 'dumb stick' cause it read everything in the ground. He had a Dynex he was showing a trainee how to use. I went behind him and marked the TV main it missed. That startled him and gave him new respect for the 810.

I was working for a company that issued 810's. They got new RD's to replace them after a few years. I held out as long as I could but it was finally my turn to be switched out with an RD 400. It was a very sad day Locating was never that quick and easy again. The damages spiked briefly too while the guys got used to the new stuff. Every piece of equipment I get gets measured up against the 810 to this day. A few got close but nothing has topped it yet. They're like the 68 Hemi of locating.

Ive seen some new techs in northern WI with brand new trucks and what looked like new equipment while I seen the vets driving the old rangers. Idk how they felt but I would be a bit envious myself. Probably no time to complain with the ticket loads their handling right now

To me I would rather see the company save money and run the trucks to the ground, then everyone can get their raises and bonuses.

They'd just run them into the ground and keep the money. They kinda already do.
