Building an Ice Shanty

Well I got a little bored and decided to build a permanent ice shanty. It took about 12 hours to build. All I need to do is paint it and get it to the lake. Here's a few pics. I even got my 4 year old to help.

Yep....You drag it out to the middle of a lake and you have your own piece of lake for the winter. Just drill a few hole and start fishing.

Just put bed in it. Get a heater, small generator for a tv. And call it home with free rent for the winter.

Well I finally got the shack on the ice today. Tonight I will break it in with a bottle of Southern Comfort.

I felt like the Ice Road Truckers driving out on the ice. It is kind of unnerving hearing all the noises the ice makes while driving on it.

My wife's cousin works for a local roofing company. She got me a piece of rubber roofing. This crap is normally very expensive but with the relative discount it was free.

Yes you do. Here in this pic we had two guys fishing. You just lift up the trap doors and drill holes.

Well I think it's time to hang up the summer rods and start getting the ice fishin' gear ready. I think a few card games in the ice shack are going to be happening this year. I still want to run into these ice fisherwomen next year.

Almost that time of the year again. WOO HOO!

Can't wait to get me some eyes and do a little jiggin.

I heard its supposed to be a warm winter with the El Niño thing. I sure the hell hope so.

My 7 yr old just asked where your gaff was? I told her He's not used to catching big fish. That's cool 7 yrs. old and worried about where the gaff is?
