Slot Cars

Well I figured I'd give a little update. I've got all the cars running real good. I upgraded my power supply from an old Marine battery to an actual 25 amp variable voltage power supply I got for 10 dollars on ebay(normally $220.00) Next step is installing a timing system that connects from the track to an old computer. I ordered it and it will arrive on Monday. Next step is connecting a home made track to a 15 year old computer with interfaces and relays.

Here's a pic of a sprint car. All bumpers,nerf bars, and the roll cage are bent by hand out of 1/16" brass rod and soldered onto the chassis. My next projects are gonna be some 1930s coupes done up in Legends style.

I was watching the show "auction hunters" over the weekend and they found some vintage slot cars and sold the for like 6K I think it was.

Well I attempted my first car builds. I definately have a lot to learn about cutting out the bodies and painting them. I think I need an airbrush.

Goldenboy, you have a great deal of talent. That track is fantastic. I remember slot cars when I was a kid, but they where a whole lot bigger and the track in my neighborhood was a huge place that had many different tracks.
With watching your progress with your track, I started getting into model trains and last year for Christmas I started a little set. This year I grew a little and built up my village. I now have two train sets running and started adding more stuff.
It's turning out to be a whole lot of fun for a 59 year old kid!!!

Steve right now every car I have has a different motor in it so even racing is impossible. I've ordered some new bodies because I want all the cars to look vintage. Eventually I'll put the same motors in all the cars so the racing is a little more interesting. Here is a car I'm working on right now. I still have to solder up all the bumpers and axle tube and then paint them but I got the body done.
