Years ago, in my 91 Sierra ext, I followed a bud down this wild downhill mudhill with rocks n ruts.. he had a seriously capable old willies. It probably was fun, but the whole way down the mountain I was only worrying about crushing the sides of my p/u.
Ya gotta have a toy truck for that hobby,, not your daily driver.

i've been known to get a little mud on my tires!
I got a 79 c-10 4x4 with 350 a4 speed manual with granny low only a 2" lift sittin on 31 50 15's for now primarily a mud truck love doin it but it does get very costly.
