    Default Texas Utility Locate Rodeo

Well over a year ago, on March 12, 2012, to be exact, a group of dedicated stakeholders, most of whom are active in a CGA Regional Partner, joined forces to form a Steering Committee in hopes of holding a Texas Locate Rodeo Competition. Our goal would be to send representatives from our State to the International Utility Locate Rodeo, which is held every summer near Atlanta, GA. Pete Pedersen (Atmos Energy Mid-Tex Division & Member of North Texas DPC) and JimBob Sims (Texas811 & CGA Regional Partner Committee Co-Chair) were named the Co-Chairs. Numerous teleconferences were held over the next few months to make decisions which would finally make this a reality. Texas811 has hosted Locate Rodeo events in the past, in conjunction with our Annual Damage Prevention Summit, which is recognized as a CGA Regional Event, but we had never been officially recognized by the International Rodeo. The Steering Committee determined that we wanted to be recognized, so the founding members each agreed to become an official “Feeder Event”. By doing this, we agreed to send 4 representatives (1 each from the 4 divisions – Gas, Power, Telecom & Water) to the International Event which was held July 27, 2013 on the campus of the University of Georgia, in Athens, GA. As it turns out, CobbFendley & Associates employees swept the competition and represented Texas at the International Utility Locate Rodeo:
Gas – Richard Zuniga - CobbFendley & Associates, Power – Billy Clark - CobbFendley & Associates, Telecom – Jose Rios - CobbFendley & Associates, Water – Modesto Castilleja - CobbFendley & Associates.

At the International Utility Locate Rodeo Modesto Castelleja took first place in the Water Division and Richard Zuniga took third in the Gas Division. Not bad for Texas' first venture in to the international scene!

If you work in Texas, consider competing in the 2014 Texas Utility Locate Rodeo for a chance to represent in Atlanta on an all expense paid (vacation) competition. Texas811

But all my ex's live in Texas.
And that's why I hang my hat in Tennessee.
