Cell Phone Use While Driving

Every state in the USA has laws pending or enacted regarding cell-phone & screen device (laptop) use while driving.

Cell-phone use is the most common distraction while driving.

Using a wireless device while driving is UNSAFE and in most of our states ILLEGAL, too.

Simply, it is DANGEROUS for YOU and the other drivers to multi-task while driving!

When the brain is asked to tackle two tasks at once,

it gives priority to the more deeply ingrained skill.


Since we learn to talk before we learn to drive,

our brain power goes into the conversation instead of onto the road,

causing us to

· MISS visual cues

· have impaired PERIPHERAL VISION

· have impaired LOOK AHEAD CAPACITY

· have impaired COORDINATION

Most states even with bans let you use hands free. Of course this doesn't mean shit to 90% of the asshole population because apparently a $10 earpiece costs too much!

I see this EVERYDAY and it pisses me off!

Here in my state, Idaho, you see more cell phone use while driving by the cops than you do by the average citizen.

I can guarantee that 50% of the time a cop will be on the phone when you see them driving along.

Washington DC has a no cellphone law as well, you must be using hands-free devices.

Paul Prospero couldn't have said it better Wingfoot. Personally I don't think there is a person in our entire company that doesn't use his/her cell phone while driving. Cops not only are on the cell phone all the time but are constantly using their little built in mini computers while driving too. USIC should invest in some robot chauffers to drive us around from job to job following the most efficient route of course, then we could drink at work.
