You gotta love when you open a ped or look in a culvert or hole and see something looking back at you. Even rabbits will make me jump. They wait till you just about step on them before they decide to take off.

I freeking hate when i am out locating in the rurals and it is sooooo quiet you can hear your heart beat. Then, a grouse flys out from under your feet with a great flurry of feathers and thumping of wings. Scares the crap out of me every time!

When I was in CO last summer, it was a bit unnerving to be working on a ditch cleaning job knowing that I could come across a rattler... I was constantly making more noise than normal and swinging that paint stick in front of me. Only once though did I hear one... but just the idea!!!
