• Gas Line Punctured in Fruita

FRUITA, Colo. Another gas line was punctured on Saturday afternoon, this on in Fruita. Lower Valley Fire District responded to the incident at 1966 J Road, along with Xcel crews who worked to repair the damage.

Workers from Xcel on scene said construction crews accidentally broke the gas line, which was unmarked.

They told NewsChannel 5 that the break would be fixed within a few hours. Despite the smell of gas in the air, no evacuations were taking place and no buildings in the area were being threatened.

Officials encourage people to get gas lines marked and to call 811 before any dig. By doing so, folks can get their underground utility lines marked for free and help prevent any potential life-threatening incidents.
