In the interview, he even brought in all of his certificates and such, along with the certifications of the rodeo's he has been in.

I have had high hopes for hiring a locator with this much going for him. He's even told me that his past employer have offered him more money to come back ...

They don't do potholing, but they did claim to be private locators with GPR. I soon found out these guys are GPR guys who think they can locate.

First off, they showed up in an RV. Not too shabby for a Locating rig. It was a two man crew. It seemed like the main guy was training the other guy, since there was a lot of basic commands given. I was there just to help with the understanding of the area. I wasn't supposed to locate.

With these recent posts about unionizing the locate work force, I wanted to toss out some things that i've seen, heard, or experienced. All of these I feel that the locating industry needs.

First off, I believe we need a code of conduct for locators. The excuses of being poorly trained or having a shitty company can only carry you so far. One of the main reasons we are on the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to professional industries as a whole, is solely the fact that for ...

So, I've been reading some recent posts about unionizing and I see that the same questions and complaints are still there.

I feel bad for the locators who are fed up and rest their hat on the hope of a union coming in to save the day like a caped superhero.

I don't know who i'm pissed off at more in this situation.
    a) Utility Company for contracting out a service that should remain "in-house"

    b) Contract locating companies ...
