I went to Tulsa area twice this year but we are so busy down here I have been working 6 days a week since the end of March. Good luck in Tulsa, new DM and 3 or 4 new Supervisors and about 30 new locators. Oh yeah, them dumb-ass Okies don't know what tracer wires or test stations are!

I would love to be able to go out of town but with the family and young kids I don't. Also my area hasn't slowed down in 11 years so I haven't had much of a chance to go anywhere else.

I know, I was in Oklahoma city early this year. If Tulsa anything like Oklahoma City I will not have any more hair on my head. I hate marking yard lines and jumping fence.

It's the same all over Oklahoma. I hear you about the yard lines - especially in those neighborhoods where everyone has Rottweilers and/or a Pit Bulls.

Staying Lufkin, and working in Beaumont!
Whoa! I have a crew of guys in Beaumont, working for several oil companies in Port Arthur.
They couldn't get you a hotel in Beaumont? Lufkin to Beaumont is 100+ miles each way...
My guys are staying at the Fairfield in Beaumont. 200 miles a day of wasted driving wouldn't fly with me and probably would have pissed my guys off as well.

Finally we are being moved to Port Arthur, Tx. No more 2 hour drives to the work area. Although with drive time I logged 102 hours this week!! The only positive I can say about it!

Man and I thought I had it tough working the VERY occasional 72 hour week (Monday to Friday) this year. And I became a cranky bastard according to oh just about everyone!!!
My hat is off to you dude. I could not do those kind of hours anymore. I used to when I wore a younger mans clothes but not today!

Heading home in the morning, and I can say I have been here to long. The first day we were here we went to the meet spot with the crew we were to work with. They went over their timesheets and to my surprise they had one guy over 50 hours and one under 40. The rest were around 42 to 47. There lies the problem. They are far behind and do not lift a finger to help themselves. The guy I am helping called in sick again yesterday. I would rather help a crew that gives all their effort to help each other and not go home early. We are here to get the work done and dig you out of this hole that was created by Hurricane Ike. But it only works if there is total effort by all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See that is where mgt should be stepping in and MAKING these guys work. I haven't understood that mentality, if you bring in outside help, then it better be because everyone you have is running the a$%*& off, not just because they can get it done in their own time schedule.

when we go out of town we get the work no one wants to do during the week.....the long projects, ditch jobs, multiple addresses on one ticket, sloppy muddy jobs, major intersections...you know those jobs where you do about 10 and call it a day.....
