The mayoral terms of Kilpatrick have been plagued with controversies which have included allegations of marital infidelity, conspiracy, perjury, and murder. Kilpatrick is the only mayor in the history of Detroit and the only current mayor of any major U.S. city to be charged with a felony while in office.
On March 24, 2008, Kilpatrick was charged with eight felony counts, including perjury, misconduct in office, and obstruction of justice. If found guilty of felony perjury, Kilpatrick could be disbarred and could be jailed for up to 15 years per count. He may also lose his mayoralty. The recent controversies have prompted calls for his resignation, an ethics probe, and a recall election campaign to have Kilpatrick removed from office.
On May 13, 2008, the Detroit City Council approved a resolution to request that Michigan's governor, Jennifer Granholm, remove Kwame Kilpatrick from office.
On August 7, 2008, Mayor Kilpatrick was incarcerated in the Wayne County Jail upon an order issued by Judge Ronald Giles for violating the terms of his bond (by traveling to Canada and failing to notify the court),[3] becoming the first mayor in Detroit's history to be ordered to jail while in office. On August 8, 2008, Michigan's Attorney General, Mike Cox, announced two new felony counts had been filed against Kilpatrick for assaulting and interfering with a law officer.
On August 26, 2008, Gov. Jennifer Granholm announced that she will subject Kilpatrick to a hearing September 3 on whether to remove him from office.
No wonder why everyone thinks Detroit is a shithole. With all this shit coming out of these assholes.:verymad:

WoW! I never knew this bureaucrat was such a stinker! This article makes interesting reading:
Stripper’s murder may topple Detroit's mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.
Detroit has been shaken by claims of lurid conduct and a cover-up at city hall. (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article4640994.ece)

Beyond, how the hell did you almost get killed here in upstate NY????? There isn't a city around here that has the asshole factor like Detroit (exceptions are Buffalo and NYC). Usually our wanna bee gang bangers only kill each other (explains our super high solved murder cases ie. Syracuse = Sarcasim). Unless you got into a tustle with a good ole country boy around here?

:scold:We don't need anymore corrupt politicians down here - we like to grow our own. And I personally would get very pissed if he killed a Texas Stripper - we have the best looking ones in the USA! Let him stay in Detroit or send him to DC with all the rest of the crooked politicians.

My drunk ass sister was living in the fingerlakes area with her drugged out ex. and threw me out of the car(I was 16 at the time) with me wearing my Red Wings jersey in the middle of the winter. I was in the middle of nowhere(near watkins Glen). Needless to say I walked about 15 miles along the side of the highway, almost was taken out by a couple cars. No one would offer me any help. Not one payphone or gas station for 15 miles. Until the shotgun toting trailer owner held me at gunpoint until the police came about 2 hours later to pick my ghetto ass up. (I ended up in a town called horseheads). Been to buffalo and NYC. Had friends that went to Syracuse, and lived in Albany. And yes Detroit is a much bigger shithole. It just hurts to admit.

Well yeah being on the side of the road in the middle of winter here will almost kill you, not to mention where you were. Being out there towards the Glenn that's some country folk out that way.
All I could think of when I was in Detroit (the actual city, not the subs) was how much it looked like a friggin War Zone, Burned out Cars and Buildings, Bars on EVERY window, 'zombies' walking around with no place to go. All I wanted was some kevlar, my 1911 and AR-15 (before the Army called it the M-4) and as many rounds as I could carry. I think that is THE scariest place I have been.

You still have to be very careful if you stray too far from certain venues. You must have been on the east side. most of the west side is fairly descent. You still have to be careful, but it sure looks a hell of alot better. I lived over there quite a while. Rule of thumb, don't own a nice older car that can easily be stolen, and pay attention to your surroundings.

That's where I was. We called it 'Situational Awareness'. It was like the friggin 'Twilight Zone' there, the city was a hole but the rest of Wayne County had some nice areas in it. Then of course being to go over to Windsor on Friday and Saturday nights was fun.
