I have used this goldak and for power it doesn't work. If you have a locate that the power company has recently put a service in and it hasn't been connected in the transformer the triad will not, can not locate it..

It also doesn't do well in congested areas.

It works fine in areas that are simple to locate in which is hard to find

I thought it was going to be great the next best thing in locating equipment, but they still have some work to do on it

yeah i used one of these for the survey company i used to work for doing as-built mapping. they are very good for simple locates but if your at a crossbox or congested area i wouldn't trust it. it does have one of the best features ever though if you have two sets of leads you can hook up to two cables on seperate frequencies which is nice for marking one on the way up and a different one on the way back. it has a ton of frequencies too which is nice. the transmitter is the case for the reciever feature is very nice cause you have everything you need in a compact case ready to go.
