NEW YORK - More than 30 years after George Carlin pronounced "Seven Words You Can Never Say On Television," some of those words have lost their sting
Some of those words still aren't welcome on the public airwaves (or, for that matter, in print) and they are still being debated in the courts.
But you can hear those words voiced in everyday discourse more than ever.
Carlin, who died Sunday at age 71, observed in his routine: "We have thoughts, but thoughts are fluid. Then we assign a word to a thought and we're stuck with that word for that thought — so be careful with words."
Carlin's seven words, he would caution ironically, "are the ones that'll infect your soul, curve your spine, and keep the country from winning the war."

He definitely had a different way of looking at our vocabulary and was one of the few comedians that spanned 3 generations.

It was not a joke. He was actually arrested (I believe in '72 in Milwaukee for Using them) THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS BAD WORD, OR AT LEAST THE 7 NOT FOR AIRPLAY. shit, piss, ****, cunt, cocksucker, mother****er, and tits. This was played on air in New York radio just a few months prior ,and a pastor's son heard it. 1 complaint was all it took. These were the 7 words, no matter what you used them for, would get you in trouble with the fcc. For example, bitch can also mean a female dog.

What a man.
Straight from the heart, and said it smart. RIP George.
Found this the other day, how appropriate is this these days in the world we live in fellow locators?:woot:

The 7 words (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTyzTJTNhNk) you can't use on the airwaves.
George Carlin was politically awake. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXWzSwZ_wPs&feature=related)

George Carlin was my favorite comedian. I enjoyed wathcing his shows, and listening to all of the words that spewed out of his mouth.
If you sit back and think about it, alot of the things he said would make sense to you, especially when he was talking about dealing with other people, especially drivers and the public.
My favorite of all of his antics was Al Sleet, the ippy-dippy weather man. Loved Al...
I remember, as I was watching his most recent special on HBO, when he was talking about his age, was that it was odd to see a comedian reach that age and still be on stage on a regular basis.
That weekend HBO People ran over 24 hours of all of his specials, and I was glad I had just hooked up my DVD recorder and got every bit of them.
George was a great comedian, and his books were great too. Perhaps I should start collecting all of his books....
Rest In Peace Geroge, we will miss you...
