Took an idea mentioned elsewhere on this thread and tried it on something different.
Used a pair of vice grips on those big ass bolts on some power street light pedestals. Works like a hot damn. Got a kick ass signal.

Is that a private street light? Or is it actually owned by the utility company? It's wierd how different all the utilities are from one area to another.

Ya, this is owned by a utility and is on a main street. I was locating an area today for them to continue the sidewalk just up the street.
My field sup. came along and just laughed but hey, it works!
The great thing is you don't screw up your alligator leads!

I started to use vicegrips to make my 'cheater' clip but decided a c-clamp was easier. Good idead for street lights:thumbsup2:
