Hey ya'll!!!! I am a former locator trying to locate my locator husband Larry. Has anyone seen him? Last I heard from him, he was on a long country road and had everything to mark on the entire road - installing guard rails. My 810 doesn't seem to be getting a good ground so I can't seem to find him - also my 810 doesn't speak my language. Na! All is true, except I do know where my husband is - in the pool in the back yard as we speak. I hope ya'll will accept me as part of the group. I started out working for VA Power many moons ago when they located their own power and have been in this crazy business ever since in one way or another. Gotta love it! I have been reading your postings and am glad I joined. Seems most of us have a lot in common. Glad I found this web site.:angelic:

Been gone from VA for quite a while. Was in Northern VA, all over. Started off as a Marine in DC and migrated south. Still migrating.

Hey Gypsy - I'm not the big traveler of the South, but what I have seen is nice. Dallas Texas and Tulsa Oklahoma are pretty towns. I like the history around Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I like the white sands of Pensacola, the waterways of Tampa and the geezers of Cocoa Beach, Florida, but the summer heat and hurricanes are not for me. I like the people of the South. They are more appreciative of life and not as abrasive as some Yankees.
I'm told a Yankee lives up north. A damn yankee is one who moves to the South. A lot of damn Yankees move to North Carolina. I have many Confederate friends who live in Charlotte, Winston-Salem, High Point, Concord and Kannapolis, North Carolina. They tell me it's heaven on earth. Especially if you like the outdoors. And Yankees are accepted there, even the abrasive ones. I have a Yankee friend who wants to move to Winston-Salem today, but can't sell momma on the idea.
Timing is always important when you make a move across country as you wish to do. It is of my opinion to hold off on a big move until after this upcoming election. I sense a big correction of our economy coming very soon. And it's my opinion the recent flooding of the Mid West (the bread basket of the world), coupled with $5+ diesel fuel for food transportation costs, we may even see food rationing in America this fall. And, we all know what opinions are.......

There is the sit back & wait idea here too! I can't go anywhere for at least 2 years as my youngest will graduate from HS then. Can't pull her out her last 2 years of school! Besides... hubby is back peddling now... (especially the way the economy is going)... says we need to be around people we have known a long time. I understand that also... but I really, really HATE midwest winters! I honestly think I am a true southerner who was born in the midwest! Going to be labeled a "damn yankee", but I think I was just misplaced at birth! (Sorry Mom!)
