View Full Version : Radiodetection Launches the RD1000 Portable GPR System

The RD1000 is an exciting and powerful addition to the utility surveyor’s toolkit. Using radar technology, the RD1000 displays an image map of underground features. With the RD1000 the technician can see a pipe or cable in its topographical context making it ideal for locating and excavating utilities. The advantage over a traditional, electromagnetic locator is that the RD1000 can see non-conductive materials including plastic pipes.

I wish our soil content was a little different here. Our soil is so heavy and thick I have seen very limited results from GPR systems.

My Radar is very picky about the type of soil it works in

This is very nice and all. But what we all need at USIC is new trucks and laptop with bigger hardrives so we ca fit all are prints. So we dont have to use DVD's. More trained locators. Please send your donation to:

Locatingart,

What stat do you work in? Did you come from CLS or SMP? CLS all had new trucks.

Lets see here UULC your a Supervisor I am not. Why in the hell would I tell you where I work. I have been told that CLS locators are treated so much better then SM&P's I hope you enjoy your new truck. It must be nice.

I believe he said he is from Napersville,IL. and works for SM&P. Who knows for sure because he has went back and forth but if you look at all his threads that's the only place that makes sense.

And SM&P has pretty much all new trucks and new laptops also. Locatingart is just trying to go back to his old ways in a roundabout way.

Ok now back to the original topic.

I may be a supervisor but I remember my roots. I was just curious as to what area you worked. But I ment you no harm. No wonder you do not have a PM.

Thanks Golden, We can now get back to the original thread: RD1000

:cool2:Look Goldengirl What I am trying to say here is when we see every locator get this awesome RD1000 is when monkeys fly out your ass. I am sure it is a nice unit. I use a RD4000 locator and I love it. But lets be REAL FOR ONCE. We have alot of issues to address here. Like making a fair income for are Family. Not expensive toys in are work trucks.

You refer to me as a he. I am a female locator I am glad you have all you need. I find it amazing that only a select number of people can express them selves on this forum. The RD1000 sure is nice but in the day of production in great demand not very useful

My guys use GPR everyday. All of our locators have a Metrotech i5000 (w/4" and 6" clamps), a Mala GPR (some Easy Locators, some X3M's), fiberglass probe rods, a new Dell rugged laptop with in-car docking station with 80gig or larger hard drive AND a USB backup hard drive of 120gig or more, a Verizon Rev A Aircard and all the miscellaneous tools they need. Some have a backup weapon of their choice like Subsite 75r, Pipehorn, 810 old or 810dx, RD400, or a Metrotech 9890 or 9860.

We use GPR everyday and it is a great tool in the properly trained hands of a good locator, and it gets production again, in the hands of a properly trained locator.

I don't care where locatingart is from or what he/she does or for whom. ARE is not the same as OUR. Learn to spell and maybe you will be taken seriously, bottom line is reading your threads it makes you look retarded.

If anyone out there gets there hands on a RD1000 please give us a preformance review.
I would kill or die for a user friendly GPR system that I could put in my new company truck that came from Naperville. Although my scroll lock key is missing and I have 121KB of free space and a sound card thats turned off.:peace:

Great one but here in DFW we have 40+ people in class with no trucks, no laptops and no equipment. SM&P is supposed to be scrounging up 25 trucks from around the country to bring to DFW. Now what were we talking about?:tease:
