Has anyone found a good pair of uninsulated waterproof boots. I've went through a ton of different boots over the years and can't seem to find a pair that stay waterproof for more than a couple months.

This time of year there is always dew on the grass in mornings and then with all the rain we've had there are always plenty of puddles everywhere.

So what brand boots seem to be the best for staying waterproof?

same thing here, I just buy regular boots now and put Mink Oil on them - seems to work as good as the "waterproofed" ones

Considering your recent "FLOOD" pictures post, I would think you need HIP WADERS not waterproof boots!!! (Just bustin your chops).

I bought a new pair about 6 weeks ago now that are made of industrial grade"ballistic" nylon (whatever that means) and has a "hyperdri" waterproof and breathable membrane. They are high tops. But with the nylon upper, they are very light.

Mine were made by a company called DAKOTA.

This is a description from the web site:

Dakota 8" Hyper-Dri® "Balistic" Nylon STSP Boots
Now with FRESHTECH™. Advanced anti-microbial protection, by inhibiting the growth of bacteria and fungi. FRESHTECH™ prevents odour and fabric deterioration to stay smelling fresh and lasting longer.Softer density polyurethane midsole with aggressive rubber outsole. FRESHTECH™ treated lining. TPU cap and rubber outsole. CSA Grade 1 steel toe and steel plate, and ESR protection. HYPERDRI® waterproof/breathable bootie construction keeps water out while still allowing perspiration to escape.

Style: 080-402

Price: 149.99(CDN$). I got them on sale for just over $100.00 (Cdn & U.S. $ are on par)

Google "mark's work wearhouse" for more info.

Hope this helps!

Get enough layers of paint on them, they will become waterproof.

I do actually keep a pair of hip waders in my truck. Not only for walking through real deep water but for getting down a couple extra rungs on a manhole ladder to keep from having to pump the water out.

My best opinion which is nt worth much and depends on the amount of water is getting a pair of overssize contractors boots to go over your regular work boots...

I used to do concrete work and thats the way you did it with that line of work...You still have your everyday boots on underneath so your still good to go for distance...

Your feet will cook in anything to watertight...I would say most the time youd want to shed a fully waterproof boot asap after moving on to a dry environment...

I think I may go this route. This way I could wear them the first hour or two in the morning when the grass is all wet and then just take them off after the grass dries up.

I wasnt implying the notorious wet grass issues...

Wallyworld waterproof hikers with some aftermarket water repellent is good enough to solve that dilemma...

Additional suggestion-

Always get a hiker/workboot with a good arch support(one thats visible from the outside) even if its not the cheapest...Dont get ANYTHING WITH A FLAT INSOLE LIKE WHEN YOU HOLD IT UP AND LOOK AT IT ISNT FLAT AS A PANCAKE...

WORD!!!

I like Red Wing Boots, been wearing them for over thirty years, this is what I'm wear now...

they keep my feet dry, the only time my socks get wet is if I get caught in a down pour and the rain runs down my legs into my boots.

I spray my boots with scotchgaurd...seems to work pretty good. I keep a can of it in my truck and also spray it on my clothes when it's raining during the summer, repels the rain without having to wear a raincoat when it's 90 degrees outside and humid as Hell.

I wonder if there any environmental hazards associated with that outdoors...

We need to start thinking about stuff like this when the dems sweep in the fall...

Because the republicans will be blamed for botchin up the economy big time at the rate things are going...

OK I think I made up my mind. I'm gonna get a cheap pair of pull over boots for walking through the deep puddles and get these Danners for everyday hiking. They are made for hot weather.
